Abstract: Objective:To analyze the speech characteristics, error patterns and intelligence structure of children with functional articulation disorders, and to provide a basis for the development of speech rehabilitation programs.
Methods:Forty children with functional articulation disorders were included as the observation group, who were treated in our hospital from Jan. 2018 to Jan. 2019, and 40 healthy children undergoing physical examination during the same period were included as the control group. The characteristics of speech error patterns in the observation group were analyzed, and the differences in the intelligence structure between the two groups were compared.
Results:The error patterns in the articulation of initial consonants mainly included substitution, ellipsis and distortion, with substitution as the most common type, followed by ellipsis, and there was less distortion. The error rates of consonants l, ch, t, c and zh were all more than 70%. The error rates of en, ing, ong and ang in the vowels were over 15%; the error patterns were mainly substitution, and there was less ellipsis and distortion. There was no statistical difference in the scores of total intelligence quotient (IQ) or speech IQ between the two groups of children (P>0.05). The operational IQ of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion:The speech error patterns in children with functional articulation disorders are mainly substitution, followed by ellipsis, and there is less distortion; most of them are initial consonants. There is developmental imbalance of intelligence structure in children with functional articulation disorders, and their operational ability is retarded.
