Abstract:
Objective
To observe the clinical effect of modified Dachaihu decoction combined with routine western medicine in the treatment of dampheat acute appendicitis.
Methods
The 40 children with acute appendicitis admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2016 to December 2018 were randomly divided into control group (20 cases) and observation group(20 cases). The control group was told not to take any water, and routine rehydration treatment and antiinfection treatment were given. The observation group was treated with modified Dachaihu decoction on the basis of the treatment for the control group. The clinical efficacy, fever, abdominal pain, Maxwell's point tenderness and relief time of rebound pain, and laboratory indicators (white blood cell count, C-reactive protein) were observed.
Results
The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.0%(19/20), which was significantly higher than that of the control group(68.4%,13/20), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in antipyretic time between the two groups(P>0.05). The relief time of abdominal pain, tenderness and rebound pain in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The leucocyte count in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group on the 3rd and 7th day of treatment(P<0.05), and the Creactive protein in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group on the 7th day of treatment (P<0.05).
Conclusion
Modified Dachaihu decoction combined with basic treatment of Western medicine is effective in treating children with appendicitis of damp-heat type.
