Abstract:
Objective
To observe the clinical efficacy of Tongqiao decoction combined with Sinupret drops in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with spleen-qi deficiency syndrome in children.
Methods
Eighty children with chronic rhino sinusitis who were admitted to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, from September 2017 to September 2018, were enrolled in the study. They were randomly divided into control group(40 children) and observation group(40 children). The control group was treated with Sinupret drops(Oral) combined with Fluticasone Propionated Nasal Spray for nasal spray. The observation group was treated with Tongqiao decoction(Chinese herbal decoction) on the basis of the treatment for control group. The course of treatment was 1 month. The improvement of the main symptoms and the curative effect of the two groups were observed. The recurrence and adverse reactions were observed during the 3 months of follow-up.
Results
After 1 month of treatment, the improvement in nasal congestion and runningnose symptoms in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the improvement of headache or hyposmia symptoms(P>0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 92.5%(37/40), which was significantly higher than that of the control group(70.0%, 28/40). The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). After 3 months of follow-up, the recurrence rate of the observation group was 5.0%(2/40), which was significantly lower than that of the control group(22.5%,9/40). The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant adverse reactions during the treatment period in both groups.
Conclusion
Tongqiao decoction combined with Sinupret drops and Fluticasone Propionated Nasal Spray is better than pure western medicine in treating children with chronic rhinosinusitis with spleen-qi deficiency syndrome. Clinically, this combination of Chinese and western medicine should be actively promoted.
