Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture combined with exercise therapy on children with spastic sputum cerebral palsy (referred to as cerebral palsy). Methods Sixty children with spastic sputum cerebral palsy treated in our hospital from October 2016 to October 2018 were selected and were randomly divided into observation group(30 children) and control group(30 children). The control group was given exercise rehabilitation, including exercise therapy, occupational therapy, and core stability training. The observation group received acupuncture treatment in addition to the treatment for the control group. The course of treatment was 12 weeks. The modified Ashworth scale and the dorsal dorsiflexion angle were used to evaluate the relief of the muscle tension of the lower extremity gastrocnemius in the two groups. The changes of the D and E regions of the gross motor function measurement (GMFM) were used to evaluate the improvement in standing, walking and running functions. The improvement in daily living ability was assessed using the Activity of Daily Living (ADL) scale. Results The score of the modified Ashworth scale was lower in the observation group than in the control group, while the angle of the dorsiflexion of the foot was higher(P<0.05). The D, E and ADL scores of GMFM in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture combined with exercise therapy for children with spastic sputum cerebral palsy can achieve satisfactory results.
