Abstract:
Objective
To investigate the correlation between the level of serum CRP as well as total IgE and the severity of asthma in children with acute asthma attack.
Methods
A total of 102 cases of children with bronchial asthma who were admitted to emergency center of our hospital from January 2017 to December 2018 were selected as research subjects. According to the severity of asthma, they were divided into 34 cases in mild group, 39 cases in moderate group and 29 cases in severe group. During the same period, 30 healthy children were selected as the control group. Serum CRP, total IgE levels and forced expiratory volume/forced vital capacity (FEVl %) in each group were measured, and the correlation between serum CRP as well as total IgE levels and severity of asthma in children was analyzed.
Results
Serum CRP levels in the mild, moderate and severe groups were (7.36±1.98), (9.02±2.05) and (11.37±2.14) mg/L, respectively, significantly higher than those in the control group (1.02±0.67) mg/L, 〖JP2〗with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The total IgE levels of the mild, moderate and severe groups were (269.37±65.38), (347.15±72.02) and (429.41±69.71) IU/mL, respectively, significantly higher than those of the control group (81.53±23.03), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The levels of FEV1% in the mild, moderate and severe groups were 65.33%, 51.36% and 38.21%, respectively, all of which were significantly lower than those in the control group(83.00%), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum CRP and total IgE levels were negatively correlated with FEVl % in children with acute asthma attacks (r=-0.527, -0.481, P<0.05).
Conclusion
Serum CRP and total IgE levels are negatively correlated with the severity of acute asthma attack in children with acute asthma attack. The detection of serum CRP and IgE levels in children with acute asthma attack is helpful to early and timely judge the severity of acute asthma attack, which is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
