Abstract:
Objective:
To research the relationship of childhood obesity with their mothers' weight gain during pregnancy and infant feeding modes and to provide reference for making public health policies related to the prevention of childhood obesity.
Methods:Using cluster sampling method we selected 956 children and their parents in 4 kindergartens as the research subjects. Questionnaire survey was conducted in the research. The content of the investigation included children's weight, height, mothers pregnancy state, infants feeding modes, basic situation of families, etc. Through the single factor analysis and multivariable Logistic regression analysis, pregnancy weight gain, infant feeding modes and their relationship with childhood obesity were analyzed.
Results:A total of 956 copies of questionnaires were delivered, and 948 copies of effective questionnaires were collected, with a collection rate of 99.16%. According to the study 10.02% (95/948) of the children were obese. Single factor analysis showed that the mother's weight gain during pregnancy more than 15 kg and exclusive breastfeeding within 6 months are related factors of childhood obesity (P<0.05). Multivariable Logistic regression analysis showed that the mother's weight gain during pregnancy greater than 15 kg was a risk factor for childhood obesity (P<0.05), and exclusive breastfeeding within 6 months was the protection factor in childhood obesity (P<0.05); other factors had no significant correlation with childhood obesity (P>0.05).
Conclusion:In making public health policies and measures related to the prevention of childhood obesity,it is the focus to guide the appropriate weight control in pregnant women and to encourage them to adopt exclusive breastfeeding.
