Bronchial asthma is a common respiratory disease in pediatrics. It is clinically characterized by recurrent cough, dyspnea, and wheezing in the throat, which affects children's physical and mental health seriously. The pathogeny of the disease is complicated and it is difficult to heal. There is no exact cure method at present. Professor Wang Lie, a master of Chinese medicine, has been committing to the theoretical and practical research on the prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases. He has many innovations on the basis of inheriting the ancient medical science. He has unique insights into the prevention and treatment of asthma, formulating comprehensive treatment measures, and developing a series of prescriptions. He applies the method of intervention to the whole process of the disease: preventing the disease, preventing its getting more severe, and preventing its recurrence. As a result, a series of treatment schemes have been formed, which has reduced the incidence of the disease and the number of recurrences, and it has been widely used clinically.

    Abstract ( 602 )   PDF (627KB) ( 100 )   Save

Professor Ma Rong has devoted himself to the treatment of pediatric epilepsy for decades, focusing on digging out other treatments besides oral drugs. He believes that both traditional and modern medicine in the treatment of epilepsy is guided by the purpose of curing or alleviating the symptoms of epilepsy and improving the patients quality of life. The three kinds of treatments recognized in modern medicine are targeted to their suitable population, but they also have the taboos and drawbacks. Traditional medicine is the experience summarized through the practice of countless ancestors in the course of the development of nearly a thousand years. However, because of the limited conditions at that time, there are some deficiencies in collation and clinical research, and some of the effective treatments need further research and development. We should rely on modern advanced technology to further explore its origin and to excavate, which is also a relatively difficult and important research direction at present.

Professor Yu Jianer believes that the main pathogenesis of gastroesophageal reflux cough in children is that the lung and spleen qi are not sufficient, and the viscera is subject to pathogens. Phlegm and indigestion are important pathological factors. Treatment should focus on the regulation combined with lung and spleen, treating the symptoms and causes at the same time. Meanwhile, pay attention to the treatment for airway spasm, protect the spleen and stomach of children, and be careful in using cold medicine and drugs made from metals and stones. A medical record is attached.

The pediatric refractory epilepsy is one of the difficult miscellaneous diseases characterized by complex pathology and recurrent attacks. This paper summarizes Professor-Zheng Qizhong's experience in treating pediatric refractory epilepsy based on stagnation of phlegm and blood, who considers the combination of stubborn phlegm and blood stasis as an important pathogenic factor. The pathogenesis is formulated as "From phlegm to blood stasis, from blood stasis to phlegm, phlegm and blood stasis are interrelated, and they are each other's cause and effect". So the treatment should be given by syndrome differentiation, including dissolving phlegm and removing blood stasis, which is modified according to the syndrome.

    Abstract ( 408 )   PDF (481KB) ( 78 )   Save

In the recovery period of pediatric pneumonia , most children have no acute symptoms such as fever or dyspnea, but often have coughs with sputum, phlegm sounds in the throat, and long time of lung rales. In severe cases, even wheezing occurs repeatedly. This period lasts for a long time, and is often prolonged and lingering.  Its pathogenesis is complex, that is, deficiency of Yang is the root cause while phlegm in the lung is the superficial cause. Therefore, in the treatment, the Chinese herbs of warming Yang are used to solve the fundamental problem while Chinese herbs to resolve phlegm are uses to treat the superficial cause.
