Abstract:
Objective：To study the clinical significance of procalcitonin in guiding the use of the antibiotics in the treatment for children with febrile disease.
Methods：Analyse the clinical data of 304 children who suffered from febrile disease. In the observation group(n=152),serum PCT level was measured at admission,and antibiotic treatment was based on serum procalcitonin in the initial treatment process；we use the antibiotics when PCT≥0.25 μg/L.In the control group(n=152) the PCT had not been detected,so the use of the antibiotics was based on experience.Observe the time of fever recession，hospital stay，rate of antibiotics use and the prognosis.
Results：The rate of antibiotic use in observation group(61.2%，93/152) was significantly lower than that of the control group(92.1%，140/152),and the time of fever recession,hospitalization days and prognosis in two groups had no significant difference (P＞0.05).
Conclusion：PCT has important significance in early prediction of bacterial infection and guiding antibiotic therapy in children with febrile diseases.
