Abstract:
objective
To observe the clinical effect of acupoint application in treating acute diarrhea in infants and young children.
Methods
From September 2015 to November 2016, 110 cases of young children aged between 3 months and 3 years suffering from acute diarrhea were treated in the Second People's Hospital of Baiyun District. The children were randomly divided into control group(55 cases) and treatment group(55 cases). The control group was treated with montmorillonite powder and Bacillus subtilis duplex living bacterium particles, and symptomatic treatment and fluid therapy were given to prevent and correct dehydration and electrolyte disturbances. Feeding guidance was carried out; fluid was given orally, and intravenous fluid infusion was performed if necessary. On the basis of the treatment for the control group, the treatment group was also treated by acupoint application.  The application lasted for 4 h, once a day for 3 days. The clinical effect and the time for symptoms and signs to improve in both groups were observed.
Results
Compared with the control group, the time for the stool frequency and the stool character to return to normal, the time of dehydration correction, and the time of appetite returning to normal were shorter in the treatment group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was 92.73%,which was significantly higher than that of control group(70.91%,39/55)(P<0.05).
Conclusion
Acupoint application in treating acute diarrhea in infants and young children can rapidly improve clinical symptoms and shorten the course of diarrhea, achieving good clinical efficacy in the study. It is an effective way to treat acute diarrhea in infants and young children.
