Abstract:

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of budesonide in adjuvant treatment of children with acute laryngitis.
Methods :From January 2014 to June 2015, in Pediatric Department of Changshu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 120 children with mild and moderate acute laryngitis were selected. According to the admission order, the children were divided into the observation group of 60 cases and the control group of 60 cases. All the cases were given antibiotics and adequate hormone at early stage; both groups were treated with symptomatic and supportive treatment. In addition, the observing group was also given budesonide inhalation. The course of treatment was 5~7 d. Compare the clinical efficacy and the time for hoarseness, barking cough and throat obstruction symptom to disappear.
Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 91.7%(55/60), significantly higher than 76.7%(46/60) of the control group(P<0.05). The time of disappearance of hoarseness, barking cough and throat obstruction symptom was significantly shorter in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05). No obvious adverse reactions were found in the two groups.
Conclusion: Budesonide inhalation has good therapeutic effect on children with acute laryngitis, and it is relatively safe and is worthy of promotion.
