Abstract:

Objective :To investigate the effect of point injection of mouse nerve growth factor(mNGF) combined with head acupuncture in treatment of children with autism.
Methods: A total of 59 cases of children with autism aged 24~60 months, were divided into 3 groups according to the time of hospital visit and under the permission of parents:conventional rehabilitation training group(group A,15 cases),conventional rehabilitation training+head acupuncture group(group B,22 cases);conventional rehabilitation+head acupuncture+point injection group(group C,22 cases). The children were evaluated by ABC and CARS and PPVT scales before and after treatment.
Results: ABC score and CARS score were significantly decreased while PPVT score was increased in group B and C,the difference being statistically significant(P<0.05).The treatment effect was better in group C than in group B,the difference being statistically significant(P<0.05).
Conclusion: Point injection of mNGF combined with head acupuncture and simple head acupuncture are both effective for 2~5-year old children with autism, but the effect of the former is better than the latter.
