Clinically financial analysis of chinese medicinal home therapy versus hospitalized phototherapy for neonatal jaundice.

Abstract:
Objective:Study of the shortterm,longterm effectiveness and of cost nonehospitalized treatment with Chinese medicine for neonatal jaundice.MethodAmoung 159 neonates with neonatal jaundice,69 neonates with Chinese medicine and 90 hospitalized with phototherapy.They were treated with phenobarbital,compound lactic acid bacteria,newborn touching and abdominal massage auxiliary treatment.The Chinese medicine group were treated with Yinchenhao Decoction(jaundice)or capillary artemisia Lizhong Decoction(cold damp jaundice)and insisted on breastfeeding.The hospitalized neonates were treated with blue ray treatment and artificial feeding.Both were monitored with transcutaneous bilirubinometer for five days and followed up for a half year observation.
Results:No significant difference between the two groups in the therapeutic effect,but the cost for nonehospitalized group were reduced by 89.3%.Six months followup showed that the number of incidence in Chinese medicinal group was significant reduced.
 Conclusion:Nonehospitalized Chinese medicinal treatment for neonatal jaundice has less cost and the incidence of other diseases was reduced.
