Abstract:
Objective：To observe the effect of pidotimod in the treatment of infantile recurrent respiratory infection and its influence on the immune function.
Methods：We collected 96 patients diagnosed with recurrent respiratory infection from April, 2013 to April,2014,and divided them randomly into observation and control group with 48 patients in each one. The control group was given with antiinfection and symptomatic treatment, while the other group was added pidotimod with 0.4 g qd or b.i.d, to improve their immune function. The whole treatment lasted for 3 months. We observed the effect in the two groups and the change of immune function before and after the treatment.
Results：The total effective rate of observation group was 85.41%, which was obviously higher than the control group（62.40%）；the course of secondary infection, times of recurrent infection and the duration of antibiotics use in the observation group obviously decreased；the level of IgG, IgA and IgM in the serum after using pidotimod was remarkably higher than before and higher than the level in the control group；all the difference had statistical significance（P＜0.05）. No effect was shown in the control group.ConclusionPidotimod can improve the immune function of children with recurrent infection of respiratory tract，decrease the possibilities of infection and enhance the efficiency.
