Abstract:
Objective:To explore the expression significance of Daxx protein in bone marrow cells of children with acute leukemia.
Methods:Totally 100 cases of children with acute leukemia were selected as the research object in this study from Feb.2010 to Oct.2014 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College and divided into 3 groups according to the type of disease, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL)group of 49 cases, acute non-lymphocytic leukemia(ANLL)group of 21 cases, acute myeloid leukemia(AML)group of 30 cases. The control group consisted of 30 cases, who were normal healthy children of the same age.The expression of Daxx protein was detected by immunohistochemical method.
Results:The expression rate of Daxx protein in the control group(667%)was much smaller than that in ALL group(3038%),ANLL group(6667%)and AML group(4667%),the difference being statistically significant(P<005).Expression of Daxx protein in the control group in the bone marrow of children with acute leukemia(601±113)μg/L was significantly higher than that in ALL group(355±232)μg/L,ANLL group(354±247)μg/L and AML group(351±253)μg/L,the difference being statistically significant(P<005).
Conclusion:The overexpression of Daxx protein in bone marrow cells of children with acute leukemia may play an important role in promoting the proliferation and growth of leukemia cells.
