Abstract:
Objective：To discuss the effects of visual music therapy on language rehabilitation in children with mental retardation.
Methods：Eighty children with mental retardation treated in Child Rehabilitation Department of our hospital from March 2013 to March 2015 were divided into observation group(40 cases) and control group(40 cases); control group received comprehensive training of language cognition, and observation group received visual music therapy combined with comprehensive training of language cognition. Both groups received 2 courses of continuous treatment with 3 months as a course. Tests were performed with Beijing Gesell Scale for Children of 0~6 Years Old before and 2 courses after treatment to evaluate language development quotient(DQ) and development months, and language function improvement was observed.
Results：After treatment, DQ in most cases of both groups was improved, but it was reduced to different extent in 4 cases of observation group and 14 cases in the control group. The DQ after treatment was better than that before treatment in the observation group, and there was statistical difference(P<0.05).The development month of both groups was better after treatment than before treatment, and the difference was statistical(P<0.05).After treatment, the DQ and language development month were both higher in the observation group than in the control group, the difference being statistical(P<0.05).
Conclusion：Visual music intervention combined with language training can better improve the language function of children with mental retardation.
