Objective：To evaluate the effect of ribavirin combined with Chaigui antifebrile granules in the treatment of children with upper respiratory tract infection.

Methods：Totally 180 children diagnosed with upper respiratory tract infection in our hospital from October 2013 to October 2015 were involved in this research. They were randomly divided into three groups: 60 children in combination therapy group received ribavirin combined with Chaigui antifebrile granules,60 children in western medicine group received ribavirin, and 60 children in Chinese medicine treatment group received Chaigui antifebrile granules. The clinical efficacy was compared in three groups.

Results：The defervescence time, the time of stopping sniveling and the cure time of combination therapy group were obviously shorter than those in western medicine group and Chinese medicine treatment group(P<0.05).The total effective rate was significantly higher in the combination group(98.3%,59/60) than in Chinese medicine treatment group(85.0%,51/60)(P<0.017).

Conclusion：Ribavirin combined with Chaigui antifebrile granules is effective in treatment of children with upper respiratory tract infection, and defervescence time, the time of stopping sniveling and the cure time is obviously shorter than medication alone, which is worth being recommended for clinical popularization and application.
