Abstract: Objective:To observe the effect of combined cetirizine therapy for children with cough variant asthma. Methods:A total of 120 children with cough variant asthma were admitted to No.245 Hospital of Shenyang from Aug. 2014 to Mar. 2016, and they were randomly divided into two groups: 60 in observation group and 60 in control group. The control group was given cetirizine drops and the observation group received additional treatment, taking Shegan Mahuang decoction orally every day, continuously for two weeks. Compare the curative effect, disappearance time of signs and symptoms and adverse reactions between the two groups. The relapse was followed up six months later. Results:The total effective rate of observation group was 91.7%(55/60),higher than that of the control group(71.7%,43/60),and the difference was statistical(P<0.05).The time for asthma to disappear, the lasting time of asthma and the time for pulmonary wheezes to disappear in observation group were all significantly less than those of control group, and there was statistical difference(P<0.05).There were two cases of relapse(3.33%) in observation group, lower than that of control group (8 cases,13.33%) with statistical difference(P<0.05). The rate of adverse reactions in observation group was 3.33%(2/60), which was significantly lower than the control group(13.33%,8/60), and there was statistical difference(P<0.05). Conclusion:The combined therapy of cetirizine with Shegan Mahuang decoction has great clinical effect on children with cough variant asthma, with fewer adverse reactions, high total effective rate and low recurrence rate, which is worthy of clinical popularization.
