Effect of continuous nursing on daily living ability in children with cerebral palsy

Abstract:
Objective
To study and discuss the effect of continuous nursing on daily living ability in children with cerebral palsy.
Methods
Totally 100 children with cerebral palsy were selected as the study subjects, who received treatment in Shenyang Children's Hospital from Oct. 2014 to Oct. 2015. The patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, 50 cases in each group. After being discharged from the hospital, the control group received routine nursing care, and the observation group received continuous nursing care. The two groups were followed up for a period of 6 months, Barthel index and cerebral palsy scale score was compared at two time points: on discharge and 6 months after discharge.
Results
At 6 months after discharge, the Barthel index and cerebral palsy scale score were higher compared with those on discharge, and the difference was statistical(P<0.05), and the index and score of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, the difference being statistical(P<0.05).
Conclusion
The continuous nursing care for children with cerebral palsy after discharge can effectively improve the ability of daily living activities.
