Research progress in the relationship between early development and overweight and obesity in children

Abstract:
The rate of child overweight and obesity has shown an alarming increase in both developed and developing countries. Overweight and obesity in children not only affects their mental health, but also is a risk factor for a variety of serious chronic diseases in adulthood, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus. Therefor, we should perform early prevention and control. This review summarized the possible factors in early childhood influencing overweight and obesity, focusing on the association between the maternal gestational weight gain,delivery patterns, birth weight, postnatal feeding patterns and overweight and obesity in children, and its mechanism.
