Abstract:
objective
To investigate the effect of glucocorticoid combined with gamma globulin on clinical symptoms and inflammatory markers in children with pneumonia.
Methods
A total of 80 cases of pediatric pneumonia in our hospital from April 2015 to April 2017 were selected, and according to the treatment methods, these patients were divided into glucocorticoid plus gamma globulin treatment group(combined treatment group,n=40) and single gamma globulin treatment group (single treatment group,n=40). Both groups were given conventional supporting treatment. The single treatment group received intravenous injection of gamma globulin. The combined treatment group received intravenous dripping of methylprednisolone injection and prednisone injection in addition to gamma globulin. The treatment lasted for 3 to 5 day as a course. Observe the clinical effect, the time for symptoms and signs to disappear, length of hospital stay and the serum level of inflammatory markers in the two groups.
Results
The total effective rate of combined treatment group was 92.5%(37/40), significantly higher than that of the single treatment group(70.0%, 28/40)(P<0.05).The time for fever, cough and rales to disappear and the time of shadow absorption as well as the length of hospital stay in the combined treatment group were significantly shorter than the single treatment group(P<0.05). The level of WBC count, CRP and PCT was significantly lower in the combined treatment group than in the single treatment group(P<0.05).
Conclusion
Compared with gamma globulin alone, glucocorticoid combined with gamma globulin can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of children with pneumonia, and reduce the level of serum inflammatory markers in children.
