Abstract: objective To investigate the effects of combined treatment with azithromycin and Xiyanping injection on immunological function of children with mycoplasma pneumonia. Methods Sixty children with mycoplasma pneumonia were included and equally randomized into treatment group and control group(30 in each group). Children in the control group received intravenous administration of azithromycin, and those in the treatment group received intravenous administration of azithromycin combined with Xiyanping injection. The treatment lasted for 2 courses, with 7 days in one course. The treatment efficacy was observed. The CD4+ and CD8+ levels as well as IgA, IgG and IgM levels were also observed. Results The total effective rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(90% vs 67%, P<0.05). Serum CD4+ level and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased, while serum CD8+ level was significantly decreased in both groups after treatment compared with before treatment (P<0.05). Serum CD4+ level and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased, while serum CD8+ level was significantly decreased in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, serum levels of IgM and IgA were significantly decreased, while the serum level of IgG was significantly increased in both groups (P<0.05). Serum levels of IgM, IgA and IgG were significantly decreased in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Xiyanping injection can assist azithromycin in improving immunological function of children with mycoplasma pneumonia, thereby enhancing the treatment efficacy.
