Abstract: Objective To observe the effect and safety of Xiyanping injection in the treatment of children with influenza. Methods A total of 64 children with influenza were chosen, who were treated in the Pediatric Department of Chaozhou Central Hospital from Aug. 2016 to Aug. 2017,and they were divided randomly into two groups: the control group(32 children) and the observation group(32 children). Both groups received conventional treatment, including oseltamivir against virus, removing sputum, supplementing fluid and maintaining the electrolyte and acid-base balance. In addition, the observation group was given Xiyanping injection for intravenous dripping, once a day. Both groups were treated until the body temperature returned to normal and maintained for 48 hours. Observe the following items: the clinical effect, length of hospital stay, the relief time of catarrh symptoms, the time of body temperature returning to normal, the relief time of cough, and the adverse reactions. Results The rate of being significantly effective was 62.5%(20/32) in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that of the control group(28.1%,9/32),there being statistical difference(P<0.01).The effect in observation group was better, and the difference is statistical(z=-4.05,P<0.01).The relief time of catarrh symptoms and cough, the time of body temperature returning to normal, and length of hospital stay were all greatly shorter in the observation group, the difference being statistical(P<0.05). Only one child in the observation group had a little rash, which disappeared after withdrawal of medicine; there was nothing abnormal in the control group. Conclusion Xiyanping injection can greatly shorten the relief time of clinical signs and symptoms as well as the length of hospital stay in the treatment of children with influenza; there is no obvious adverse reaction, so it is worth promoting clinically.
