Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of lacrimal sac massage combined with tobramycin eye drops on clinical symptoms and complications in children with dacryocystitis. Methods Eighty-four children with dacryocystitis who were treated in our hospital from August 2016 to August 2018 were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The control group was treated with tobramycin eye drops, and the observation group was treated with lacrimal sac massage combined with tobramycin eye drops. The clinical efficacy, the improvement time of symptoms during the treatment(recession of tears, pus) and complications(lacrimal sac swelling and eye infection) were compared between the two groups. Results At the end of the treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 97.6%(41/42), which was significantly higher than that of the control group(80.9%,34/42). The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The improvement time of symptoms of tears and pus in the observation group was significantly shorter than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). During the treatment, there were 3 cases of lacrimal sac swelling and 1 case of ocular infection in observation group, and 1 case of lacrimal sac swelling in the control group. There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The lacrimal sac massage combined with tobramycin eye drops has a significant clinical effect on children with dacryocystitis, which can effectively shorten the improvement time of clinical symptoms and reduce complications.
