Abstract: Objective To analyze the effects of Buzhong Yiqi decoction in the treatment of children with acute upper respiratory tract infection and fever,such as enhancing the antipyretic effect,shortening the time of complete fever abatement and reducing the number of repeated fever Methods A retrospective analysis was carried out in 83 children with acute upper respiratory tract infection complicated with fever treated at pediatric outpatient department of Shenzhen Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2018 to June 2019 Based on whether they take the decoction,the children were divided into two groups:43 in the TCM group and 40 in the conventional group The children in the conventional group were given ibuprofen suspension to relieve fever in addition to the antiinflammation and rehydration treatment The children in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) group were treated with Buzhong Yiqi decoction besides the treatment for conventional group to bring down the fever The clinical efficacy,antipyretic time and number of repeated fever were compared between the two groups Results There was no significant difference in the total effective rate or the 3d cure rate between the two groups（P>0.05） The number of children in the TCM group whose temperature recovered to normal within 3 days without recurrence of fever within 3 days was significantly higher than those in the conventional group(P<0.05) There was no significant difference in the mean time of fever abatement or the mean time of fever abatement or the onset time of fever abatement between TCM group and the conventional group（P>0.05）,but the number of fever recurrence and the time of complete fever abatement in TCM group were significantly less than those in the conventional group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) Conclusion In the clinical treatment for children with acute upper respiratory tract infection complicated with fever,the use of Buzhong Yiqi decoction as an adjunctive antipyretic therapy on the basis of routine treatment can enhance the clinical therapeutic effect,shorten the complete antipyretic time,reduce the number of repeated fever,and promote the rehabilitation of children
