Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of modified Jiegeng decoction in the treatment of allergic rhinitis in children with underlyingheat of lung meridian.Methods: Totally 101 children with allergic rhinitis treated in the pediatric clinic of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January to December 2019 were randomly divided into 52 cases in the observation group and 49 cases in the control group. The observation group was treated with modified Jiegeng decoction, and the control group was treated with Loratadine Tablets for 3 weeks, respectively. Then, the efficacy and safety for the two groups were preliminarily evaluated.Results: After 3 weeks of treatment, the effective rate for rhinitis in the observation group was 92.3% (48/52), which was significantly higher than 61.2%(30/49) in the control group(P<0.05); the effective rate for the syndrome of underlying heat in lung meridian in the observation group was 92.3%(48/52), which was significantly higher than 79.6%(39/49) in the control group(P<0.05). The scores in sneezing, nasalcongestion, runny nose, nasal itching, nasal mucosal swelling, pharyngeal dryness, pharyngeal itching and pharyngeal redness in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). There were no adverse reactions in the two groups.Conclusion: After the treatment of modified Jiegengdecoction, the condition of children with allergic rhinitis has been significantly improved, and the clinical effect is significant and safe.
