Abstract: Objective:To explore the correlation between the development of hip joint and the ambient muscle tone in schoolage children with cerebral palsy.
Methods:Totally 56 children with cerebral palsy(41 spastic children,9 athetoid children,4 dystaxia children,2 children mixed with spasticity and athetoisis,37 diplegia,16 quadriplegia and 2 hemiplegia) in Guangzhou Rehabilitation Experimental School were recruited. All subjects received Xray examinations to analyze the value of MP.Both the muscle tone of hip flexation, adduction, and intorsion and the muscle strength of hip extention, abduction and extorsion were tested.
ResultsIn 56 patients,21 cases(37.50%) showed generally normal hip development,32 cases(57.14%) showed half dislocation of hip joint and 3 cases(5.36%) showed total dislocation of hip joint. Spearman correlation analysis showed that the value of MP was positively correlated with the muscle tone of hip flexation, adduction, and intorsion(P<0.05) and was negatively related to the muscle strength of hip extention, abduction and extorsion(P<0.05).
ConclusionThere is correlation between the development of hip joint and the ambient muscle tone in schoolage children with cerebral palsy.
