Abstract: Objective:To investigate the effect of low iodine concentration contrast medium on the image quality of CTA in children with congenital heart disease.
Methods:Totally 70 children with congenital heart disease diagnosed in our hospital from June 2019 to June 2020 were selected as the research subjects: 35 children receiving conventional iodine contrast medium(370 mgl/mL) were included in the control group, and 35 children receiving low iodine concentration iodine contrast medium(270 mgl/mL) were included in the low iodine group. Coronary CTA was performed in both groups, and the images were reconstructed by filtered back radiography (FBP). The CT values of cardiac cavity and large vessels, subjective score of CTA image clarity and contrast medium uniformity score were compared between the two groups.
Results:There was no significant difference in the CT value of cardiac cavity and large vessels between the two groups (P>0.05); the image clarity of large vessels, cardiac structure and origin of coronary artery in the low iodine group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05); the uniformity of contrast medium was compared, and there was no significant difference between right atrium and right ventricle(P>0.05).
Conclusion:Low iodine concentration contrast medium is a good diagnostic method for congenital heart disease in children. It can obtain high-quality coronary CTA images, meet the needs of diagnosis, and reduce radiation dose.
