Abstract: With the development of social economy and the change of lifestyle, more and more children are overweight and obese. If the obese children are not treated in time, they will gradually develop obesity syndrome, which will lay the groundwork for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes and other diseases in adulthood, and also bring burden to the social economy and medical resources. Traditional Chinese medicine has its unique advantages in the treatment of simple obesity in children. This article reviews the research progress in the treatment of simple obesity in children from the aspects of etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and internal and external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. The syndrome differentiation of simple obesity generally follows "phlegm, deficiency and stasis". The main treatment methods are to strengthen spleen and supplement qi, remove dampness and eliminate phlegm, and activate qi and blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Single Chinese medicine, compound Chinese medicine and external treatment of Chinese medicine all play an important role in the treatment of simple obesity in children.
