Clinical analysis of 21 cases of Kawasaki disease misdiagnosed in children

Abstract:
Objective
to: analyze the causes of misdiagnosis of Kawasaki disease, and to improve the diagnosis and treatment level of the doctors.
Methods:Totally 36 patients with Kawasaki disease were treated during the period of 2005-09/2014-12 and 21 cases were misdiagnosed. The clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of 21 cases of Kawasaki disease were analyzed.
Results:The disease was misdiagnosed as upper respiratory tract infection in 9 cases, scarlet fever in 3 cases, measles in 3 cases, gastritis in 3 cases, lymphadenitis in 1 case, drug allergy in 1 case, and mycoplasma pneumonia in 1 case. The 21 cases were treated after accurate diagnosis, all cured and discharged.
Conclusion:The doctors should improve their understanding of Kawasaki disease, patiently inquire patients' history and make a correct diagnosis in order to perform early treatment.
