Abstract: Objective：To probe into the feasibility of clinical treatment for bronchial asthma in remission stage based on the theory of old phlegm in lung.Methods：Totally 200 cases of bronchial asthma in remission stage were divided into two groups，Jinlong Guben mixture of oral treatment and control groups of with 100 cases in each.Clinical treatment lasting two months there was a 2-year follow-up，and observe the effects in patients，and peripheral eosinophil counts，serum immunoglobulin IgG，IgE，T cell subsets and changes in lung function.Results：The frequency of recurrence in the treatment group significantly reduced after treatment；eosinophil count decreased significantly；T-lymphocyte subsets of CD8 increased significantly；CD4/CD8 ratio reduced and lung function improved significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion：Jinlong Guben mixture，which is made based on the theory of old phlegn in lung，has significant clinical effect in treating patients with bronchial asthma in remission stage.Immunologic dysfunction is the cause of recurrent attack of bronchial asthma.The dysfunction can be improved by TCM in the way of consolidating foundation and clearing sputum，which provides throretical basis for the TCM treatment for asthma in remission stage.
