ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of Dingchou granule on Tourette syndrome and its mechanism.
MethodsA total of 60 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups (treatment group and control group),30 in each group. The patients in treatment group were administered with Dingchou granule, while the patients in control group were administered with tiapride. We observed tic category, frequency improvement and total effect in both groups before and after the treatment.Mice were randomly divided into 6 groups:normal group, model group,Dingchou granule group with high, moderate, low dose and haloperidol control group,12 mice in each group. We observed motor behavior and improvement of stereotyped behavior in each group 3 weeks after the treatment.HPLC was used to determine the contents of monoamine transmitter in the mice brains of each group.
ResultsImprovements in tic category, frequency and total effect in Dingchou granule group were better than those in control group (P<0.05);Dingchou granule could obviously inhibit motor behavior and stereotyped behavior and decrease the contents of DA and NE,so there was a statistical significance.
ConclusionDingchou granule is an effective prescription for Tourette syndrome;decreasing DA and NE contents can be one part of the mechanism of the prescription for tic disorder of mice.
