Abstract: Objective:To explore the effect of applying epinephrine to the hemostasis of puncture sites in premature infants with PICC.MethodsA total of 100 preterm infants with PICC were chosen who were hospitalized from Jan. 2011 to Nov. 2013 in Shenyang Children's Hospital. They were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 50 cases in each group. The observation group was given epinephrine gauze for hemostasis; the control group was given ordinary gauze for hemostasis. Compare bleeding degree between the two groups of patients.ResultsThe bleeding severity at 24 h and 48 h after PICC operation had statistical difference (P<0.05) between the groups, while there was no statistical difference at 72 h (P>0.05).ConclusionEpinephrine can effectively reduce bleeding after PICC operation in preterm infants.
