Abstract: Objective:To explore the clinical effect of Ganciclovir in the treatment of children with epidemic parotitis complicated with meningitis.
Methods:Totally 134 children with epidemic parotitis complicated with meningitis treated from July 2014 to June 2015 in our hospital were selected. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: observation group(A) and control group(B), 67 cases in each group. Group B was treated with conventional treatment, while for group A, on the basis of routine treatment, they were treated with ganciclovir. The treatment lasted for 6 days for both groups. Compare and analyze the improvement of clinical signs and symptoms and the clinical effect after treatment between the two groups.
Results:The total effective rate of group A(98.51%,66/67) was better than that of group B(80.60%,54/67) with statistical difference(P<0.05). The fewer disappearance time after treatment in group A showed no statistical difference compared with group B(P >0.05). After treatment, with regard to headache disappearance, parotid swelling subsidence, neurological symptoms remission and average hospitalization stay group A was better than group B, and the difference between the two groups was of statistical significance(P<0.05).
Conclusion:For epidemic parotitis children complicated with meningitis, Ganciclovir can effectively improve the clinical effect and reduce the adverse event rate. It is of great importance in clinical practice.
