Abstract: Objective：To explore the clinical effect of Ganciclovir in the treatment of children with epidemic parotitis complicated with meningitis.
Methods：Totally 134 children with epidemic parotitis complicated with meningitis treated from July 2014 to June 2015 in our hospital were selected. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: observation group(A) and control group(B), 67 cases in each group. Group B was treated with conventional treatment, while for group A, on the basis of routine treatment, they were treated with ganciclovir. The treatment lasted for 6 days for both groups. Compare and analyze the improvement of clinical signs and symptoms and the clinical effect after treatment between the two groups.
Results：The total effective rate of group A(98.51%,66/67) was better than that of group B(80.60%,54/67) with statistical difference(P＜0.05). The fewer disappearance time after treatment in group A showed no statistical difference compared with group B(P >0.05). After treatment, with regard to headache disappearance, parotid swelling subsidence, neurological symptoms remission and average hospitalization stay group A was better than group B, and the difference between the two groups was of statistical significance(P<0.05).
Conclusion：For epidemic parotitis children complicated with meningitis, Ganciclovir can effectively improve the clinical effect and reduce the adverse event rate. It is of great importance in clinical practice.
