Abstract: Autism spectrum disorder(ASD) is a widespread developmental disorder of the brain characterized by social interaction and communication disorders, abnormal repetitive stereotyped behavior, narrow range of interest, and limited and obstructed daily activities. Because of its unknown pathogenesis, there is no effective treatment. Vagus nerve stimulation, with autonomic nerve function regulation as its core, opens up a new principle of peripheral nerve-brain network-body function regulation, and has achieved good therapeutic effects in the treatment of epilepsy complicated with autism spectrum disorder, depression and sleep disorder. This article summarizes the current situation and feasibility of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) in the treatment of autistic spectrum disorder by consulting the related literatures at home and abroad in recent years, in order to provide a new line of thinking about the treatment for autistic spectrum disorder in children.
