Abstract: Objective To investigate clinical value of N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) detection in children with fulminant myocarditis(FM), in order to guide the diagnosis and treatment of children with FM.
Methods A total of 14 children with FM and 14 children with mild myocarditis treated in our hospital from 2008 to 2018 were selected. Fourteen healthy children were selected as healthy control group. The level of NT-proBNP was tested by automatic biochemical analyzer.
Results The level of NT-proBNP in FM children at acute stage was significantly higher than that in FM children at recovery stage, the children with mild mycarditis and healthy control group(P<0.05). The level of NT-proBNP in mild myocarditis was significantly higher than that in healthy control group(P<0.05).
Conclusion The level of NT-proBNP may be used as an important marker in the diagnosis and the judgement of prognosis of fulminant myocarditis.
