Abstract:

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture plus electroacupuncture in improving upper limb function of children with hemispastic cerebral palsy. Methods A total of 40 children with hemispastic cerebral palsy hospitalized in our department from June 2015 to December 2020 were randomly divided into observation group(n=20) and control group(n=20). The control group was treated with occupational therapy twice a day, 30 minutes each time, for 5 days a week. The observation group was treated with acupuncture plus electroacupuncture in addition to the treatment for the control group. The needle and the electricstimulation were kept for 30 minutes, once a day, 5 days a week. The two groups were observed for the following items before treatment and 3 months after treatment:scores in fine motion and adaptability, the months corresponding to the fine motion and adaptability, and the FMFM scores. Results After 3 months of treatment, the mean scores of adaptability and fine motion, the months corresponding to fine motion and adaptability and the FMFM scores were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture plus electroacupuncture and occupational therapy can improve the upper limb function of hemispastic cerebral palsy better than occupational therapy alone.
