Abstract: Objective To investigate the feasibility of the combination of Baduanjin and behavioral group therapy as a treatment for children with ADHD. Methods We collected data from 24 children diagnosed with ADHD according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition(DSM-5). Behavioral group therapy was applied according to the Incredible Years Dina Dinosaur Treatment Program; Baduanjin daily practice was required during the treatment. The Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham Questionnaire(SNAP-Ⅳ), Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire(SDQ), PiersHarris Children's Selfconcept Scale(PHCSS) and Scoring Evaluation of the TCM Syndromes were used to evaluate the outcome. We used paired T test or rank-sum test to compare the data before and after treatment. Results There are significant decrease in SNAP-Ⅳ hyperactivity-impulsivity symptom and oppositional defiant disorder symptom after treatment(P<0.01). The scores of TCM syndromes has significantly decreased after treatment(P=0.001). Conclusion The combined application of Baduanjin and behavioral group therapy is an effective treatment for children with ADHD. The mechanism of it needs to be further studied, and it has a promising potential in clinical practice.
