Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of Qingyan Lige decoction in the treatment of children with infectious mononucleosis. Methods A total of 73 children with infectious mononucleosis(excessive toxic heat syndrome in TCM) were selected, who were hospitalized in the Department of Pediatrics of Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2017 to June 2019, and were given Qingyan Lige decoction orally. On the 5th day of treatment, the self-control study method was used to observe the clinical symptoms and clinical efficacy of the children, and the results of white blood cell(WBC) count, percentage of heterozygous lymphocytes, and EB virus antigen before and after treatment were statistically analyzed. Results The total effective rate of Qingyan Lige decoction was 94.52%(69/73); the peripheral WBC count, the percentage of heterozygous lymphocytes, aspartate aminotransferase, EB virus antigen and whole blood EB virus-DNA were significantly decreased, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the lymph nodes in the liver, spleen and neck were gradually reduced, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of Qingyan Lige decoction in the treatment of children with infectious mononucleosis is safe and effective.
