Abstract: ObjectiveTo observe the effect of TCM wet application on neonatal red buttock.MethodsThe 66 cases of neonatal red buttock were randomly divided into observation group(n=34) and control group(n=32). The observation group was applied with sesame oil on red buttock. The control group exposed red buttocks and kept drying. Both groups were intervened 3 times a day, 30 minutes each time, for 4 days as a course of treatment. After the treatment, we observed the effect in the two groups.ResultsThe total effect rate in observation group was 76.5% (26/34), which was higher than control group [28.1%(9/32)], and the difference had statistical significance(P<0.01). Median score of hip skin of the observation group was -1.82 and -1.24 before and after treatment, respectively, and by rank sum test for paired samples, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05). Median score of hip skin of the control group was -1.03 and -1.56 before and after treatment, respectively, and by rank sum test for paired samples, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05). After rank sum test of two independent samples, the median score of overall effect in observation group after treatment was 0.85, higher than control group(-0.50), and the difference had statistical significance(P<0.01).ConclusionTCM wet application to the newborn with red buttock has significant effect.
