Objective:To investigate the levels of fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO) and their relationship with lung function(FEV1),CACT score of the children with asthma in acute onset and paracmasis periods and the relationship between FeNO level and exercise challenge test in the children with asthma in paracmasis period.
Methods:A total of 135 cases of asthma in acute onset, 115 cases in paracmasis and 140 cases of healthy children were selected from Department of Allergy in our hospital. All subjects were determined for FeNO, lung function(FEV1) and CACT score, and the FeNO level correlation with lung function (FEV1) and CACT score in the various period of asthma were analyzed. At the same time, clinical paracmasis in asthma children had exercise challenge test, and the relationship of FeNO level in paracmasis with exercise challenge test was analyzed.
Results:(1) There were significant differences between the asthma acute onset group and the control group in the levels of FeNO and FEV1(P<0.000 1).There were significant differences between the asthma acute onset group and the paracmasis group in the levels of FeNO and FEV1(P<0.000 1).There were significant differences between the paracmasis group and the control group in the levels of FeNO(P<0.0001).There were no significant differences between the paracmasis group and the control group in the levels of FEV1(P>0.05).(2) The negative correlation between FeNO and FEV1 was found in the asthma acute onset group(r=-0.181,P=0.035), but not in the paracmasis group and the control group.(3) The positive correlation between FeNO and exercise challenge test was found in the paracmasis group(r=0.230,P=0.013).(4) The negative correlation between FeNO and CACT score was found in the asthma acute onset group and the paracmasis group(r=-0.213,P=0.013,r=-0.209,P=0.025).
Conclusion:The levels of FeNO may be useful to evaluate and control degree in patients with asthma. Exercise challenge test is a simple method of assessing asthma airway hyperresponsiveness.

The effect of carnosine pretreatment on cognition function of HI rat
    ZHANG Xiangmin,ZHANG Zhan,CHENG Xiuyong,et al.
    2014, 6 (2):  122-125.  doi: 10.3969/j.issn.1674-3865.2014.02.010
    Abstract ( 237 )   PDF (477KB) ( 80 )   Save

Objective:To explore the effects of carnosine pretreatment on cognitive function in hypoxic ischemia (HI) rats.
Methods:A total of 36 SD rats,7 days after birth, were ligated and cut off the left common carotid artery;they inhaled 8% oxygen and nitrogen mixture for 2 h to induce HI,and then these SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=12):(1) carnosine pretreatment group:given intraperitoneal injection of carnosine 250 mg/kg at a time 30 min before the HI induction;(2) the HI groups:under the same condition , the same volume of physiological saline was used instead;(3) control group:no treatment or management was given. Some 21~26 days after HI,  by Morris water maze experiment——navigation trial and space probe trial, the effect of carnosine on swimming time, distance, and percentage of time spent in the target quadrant was evaluated.
Results:Carnosine pretreatment reduced swimming time, shortened swimming distance, and increased percentage of time spent in the target quadrant of HI rats.
Conclusion:Carnosine pretreatment improves the cognitive function of the HI rats, hence effectively plays its role in the nerve protection.

Observation on the development of cognitive ability and gastrointestinal function in autism animal models
    ZHANG Xing,LI Lina,LIN Mengke,et al.
    2014, 6 (2):  126-129.  doi: 10.3969/j.issn.1674-3865.2014.02.011
    Abstract ( 287 )   PDF (437KB) ( 73 )   Save

Objective:To investigate the changes of cognitive ability and the development status of gastrointestinal function in animal models with autism.
Methods:The rate at 12.5 d pregnancy was injected sodium valproate through the tail vein during pregnancy (injection diluted with 250 g/L,600 mg/kg).The 11 rats produced were regarded as model group rats;another pregnant rat was injected the same dose of normal saline, who produced 14 rats as control group rats.Observe two group of mice on the changes in the process of growth and development, record the data about the weight, swimming, gastrointestinal sensory function, gastrointestinal motility, darkness reaction, and the open field test, analyze the changes of cognitive ability and the development status of gastrointestinal function.
Results:Compared with the control group, model group mice showed growth retardation, poorer coordination in swimming, reduced gastrointestinal pain, and hyper function of gastrointestinal motility;in the aspects of cognitive development, the model mice showed shorter movement distance in the open field test, longer incubation period and fewer mistakes, and the difference was of statistical significance.
Conclusion:Autism models have more sluggish growth and development process, and experience gastrointestinal problems in both sensory function and motility. In addition, the exploration of the unknown area is less, and they have stronger memory ability as to the dangerous factors.
