Abstract: Objective:To probe into the clinical features and epidemiological characteristics of adenovirus infection in children with diarrhea. Methods:The stool samples of children under 5 years of age from January 2013 to December 2014 in Nanshan District,Shenzhen, were collected, and the positive specimen were sequentially analyzed and genotype was typed through the detection of adenovirus by polymerase chain reaction, and at the same time, the relationship between adenovirus infection and age, season and so on were analyzed. Results:Totally 600 specimens were detected in 20 cases of adenovirus infection, the positive rate being 3.33%.In the adenovirus positive samples, there were 14 cases of intestinal adenovirus, and all were Ad41 type, accounting for 70%.Non-intestinal adenovirus was detected in 6 cases, accounting for 30%.The course of disease of enteric adenovirus was (11.24±3.53)d,which was significantly longer than that of non-enteric adenovirus[(6.67±2.41)d],and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In addition, there was no significant difference between the two groups concerning frequency of vomiting and fever(P>0.05).The adenovirus infectious diarrhea in the whole year, which peaked in October and May,and the peak in May(April to June) was the most, accounting for 65%(13/20).The adenovirus infectious diarrhea could occur in all ages, with >6~12 years of age being the most common, accounting for 65%(13/20). Conclusion:Intestinal adenovirus type 41 is an important pathogen causing diarrhea in children in Nanshan District of Shenzhen, and to strengthen the monitoring is of great significance to the timely diagnosis and treatment, which improves the prognosis of children.
