Abstract:

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Bawei Baizhu decoction combined with Sanxiang powder for external application in the treatment of children with diarrhea of spleen deficiency.
Methods Totally 150 children with diarrhea of spleen deficiency treated in Yancheng TCM Hospital from Jan. 2018 to Jan. 2019 were chosen and divided into two groups by random and parallel control method: 90 in the observation group and 60 in the control group. The observation group was given Bawei Baizhu decoction for taking orally and Sanxiang powder for external application to the abdomen. The control group took Smectite suspension and Bifidobacterium quadruple tablet orally. The treatment lasted for 7 days as a course. After one course of treatment, the clinical effect in the two groups was assessed, and the time for diarrhea to stop in cured cases and the average frequency of diarrhea each day were observed.
Results The clinical total effective rate was 76.7% (69/90) in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (55.0%, 33/60), and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). The time for diarrhea to stop in cured cases and the average frequency of bowel movement each day were lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion Bawei Baizhu decoction combined with Sanxiang powder for external application has good effect in the treatment of children with diarrhea of spleen deficiency, and it is better than western medicine.
