Abstract:
Objective
To observe the clinical effect of Xiyanping injection in the treatment of pediatric bacterial lower respiratory tract infection.
Methods
A total of 212 children treated for lower respiratory tract infection(positive sputum culture) in General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from Jan. 2015 to Jan. 2016 were chosen as the research subjects, who were randomly divided into observation group and control group(106 cases in each group).Conventional treatment with antibiotics and atomization inhalation was given to both groups, and observation group was also given venous dripping of Xiyanping injection. The treatment lasted for 7 days. The improvement in the following aspects were observed in the two groups: clinical effect, fever-relief time, cough-relief time, time for pulmonary signs to disappear, hospitalization time, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),white blood cell count and lung function(tidal expiratory peak velocity).
Results
The clinical total effective rate in observation group was 94.3%(100/106),which was significantly higher than that in control group(76.4%,81/106)(P<0.05).After 5 days of treatment, the positive rate of sputum culture in observation group was 7.3%(15/106),significantly lower than that in control group(28.3%,30/106)(P<0.05).The fever-relief time and cough-relief time, the time for pulmonary signs to disappear and the length of hospital stay were all significantly shorter in observation group than in control group(P<0.05). The Creactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and WBC counts in observation group were lower than those in control group after treatment, while the tidal expiratory peak velocity was higher, the difference being statistically  significantly(P<0.05).
ConclusionXiyanping injection has good effect in the treatment of bacterial lower respiratory tract infection in children.
