Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of erythropoietin in the treatment of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) from the perspective of evidence based medicine. Methods:The Chinese Journal Net, Wanfang Database, Chongqing Weipu, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database and Pubmed were searched for the related literatures of HIE treated by erythropoietin. According to the clinical inclusion and exclusion criteria, Revman 5.1 software was used to analyze the conditions of included literature to evaluate the neonatal neurobehavioral scores at 7,14,and 28 days of treatment and the development indexes at 3 and 6 months. Results:Fifteen articles were included in the Meta-analysis, including 502 cases in the study group and 500 cases in the control group. Meta analysis at 7 days of treatment showed that OR=2.73(95%CI,0.73-4.73,Z=2.68,P=0.007). The results at 14 days showed that OR=1.78(95%CI,0.84-2.73,Z=3.70,P=0.000 2). The results of Meta analysis at 28 days showed that OR=2.34(95%CI,0.66-4.03,Z=2.73,P=0.006).3 months MDI and PDI Meta-analysis showed that OR=2.53(95%CI,1.72-3.72),2.48(95%CI,1.66-3.73),Z=4.70,4.40,P<0.000 1; at 6 months, MDI and PDI Meta-analysis results suggested that OR=2.85(95%CI,1.68-4.82),2.77(95%CI,1.67-4.72),Z=3.89,3.93,P<0.000 1. There was no bias in the publication of all studies. Conclusion:Eperythropoietin for HIE can significantly improve neonatal neurobehavior and promote mental development.
